This policy explains what information Clutch Automotive Technologies Ltd ("Clutch", "we") collects when you chat with Clutch on WhatsApp or visit talktoclutch.com, how we use it, and your rights. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Your WhatsApp details: your phone number and WhatsApp profile name.
- What you send us: messages, voice notes, photos and any codes or quotes you share.
- Your car details: make, model, year, mileage and service history you tell us about.
- Plan and payment details: if you subscribe to Clutch Pro, a record of your plan and payments. Card details are handled by our payment provider, not stored by us.
- Website data: basic technical information such as your browser type and pages visited.
How we use it
- To understand your car problem and reply with a diagnosis, price ranges and advice.
- To remember your car so future answers and reminders fit it.
- To send maintenance reminders and plan updates you have signed up for.
- To introduce you to a partner mechanic, only when you ask for it.
- To improve Clutch, including checking the quality of answers.
- To meet legal and security obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers to run Clutch, such as WhatsApp (Meta), cloud hosting and database providers, AI service providers that help generate answers, and payment providers. They only process your information to provide their service to us. If you ask for a partner mechanic, we share the details needed for the introduction. We may also share information where the law requires it.
Some providers store data outside Nigeria. Where they do, we take steps to make sure your information stays protected as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your chats and car details while you use Clutch, so we can keep helping with your car. If you ask us to delete your data, or stop using Clutch for a long period, we delete or anonymise it unless we must keep it by law.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop us using it for reminders and updates. You can also object to how we use it or ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Message us on WhatsApp or email support@talktoclutch.com. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Keeping it safe
We use access controls and encrypted connections to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send passwords, card numbers or bank details in a chat.
Children
Clutch is for drivers and car owners. It isn't meant for anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. Big changes will be announced on WhatsApp or on this site.
